Corina Cretu, numită consul general al României la Salonic

Fostul comisar european Corina Cretu a fost numită joi consul general al României la Salonic, în Republica Elenă. Guvernul a făcut anunțul printr-un comunicat de presă, precizând că această numire vizează asigurarea unei activități normale a consulatului și reprezentarea intereselor românești în regiune.

Conform newsbucuresti.ro, în comunicatul Executivului se menționează că Corina Cretu are o carieră internațională solidă. În prezent, ea ocupă funcția de președinte interimar al Agenției pentru Monitorizarea și Evaluarea Performanțelor Întreprinderilor Publice (AMEPIP), entitate responsabilă cu supravegherea companiilor de stat.

Pe parcursul carierei sale, Corina Cretu a fost europarlamentar și comisar european pentru dezvoltare regională între 2014 și 2019. În această calitate, a gestionat fondurile europene alocate statelor membre ale Uniunii Europene, inclusiv României, colaborând strâns cu fostul președinte al Comisiei Europene, Jean-Claude Juncker.

În martie 2024, Cretu a anunțat că se retrage din viața politică, în cadrul unei conferințe de presă organizate la București. De asemenea, ea a demisionat din partidul Pro România, ca semn de protest față de o alianță recent anunțată cu AUR, un partid de extrema dreapta.
